Richard
Van Steenkiste graduated from the University of
Texas at Austin in 1963 with a Bachelor of Journalism
degree in public affairs reporting. He received a
Master of Arts degree from UT-Austin (1966) and a
doctorate in economic and political geography (1970).
From 1970 to 1980, Dr. Van Steenkiste
taught political and economic geography, as well as
journalism, technical writing and public relations,
at universities in Ohio and Texas. He became a sales
associate with a real estate brokerage company in
1977, and in 1980 left his faculty position to devote
full-time to a real estate career. From 1982 to 1985
he was director of marketing and a commercial real
estate broker and analyst for a brokerage and development
company serving primarily European investors and clients.
From 1985 to 1987, he was president and a principal
in another commercial real estate brokerage company.
In May 1987 he joined McCluskey-Jenkins Appraisal,
Inc., in Austin, Texas, as a staff appraiser. Dr.
Van Steenkiste became one of five equal owners of
McCluskey-Jenkins Appraisal, Inc., and in January
1993 opened a California branch of the company based
in the Sacramento area. In mid-1994, he became the
sole owner of the California company and changed the
name to Landmark Realty Analysts, Inc.
Dr.
Van Steenkiste ia a member of the Appraisal Institute
(MAI) and has appraisal experience with vacant land,
apartments, office buildings, retail centers, industrial
buildings, hotels, residential and commercial subdivisions,
and many types of special-purpose properties. Since
1993, he has completed appraisal assignments on these
types of properties throughout northern and central
California, as well as in the Carson City and Reno
areas of northwestern Nevada. He is an approved independent
fee appraiser for many California and Nevada banks,
including Union Bank of California, Bank of America,
Wells Fargo Bank, US Ban corp, First Banks, Wachovia,
China Trust Bank, First Union Bank, Bank of the West
and others across the United States. He is a member
of the national appraisal panel of Wells Fargo for
hotel and motel valuations. He also undertakes appraisal
assignments for private developers, investors, attorneys,
and real estate consultants.
Dr. Van Steenkiste is 2006 President
of the Sacramento-Sierra Chapter of the Appraisal
Institute. He was Education Committee Chairman from
1995 through 1998 and was a member of the Board of
Directors in 1998. In 1999, he was Program Chairman
of the Chapter. He served a three-year term on the
Board of Directors (2000-2002) and also has served
on the Region I (West Coast) Ethics Panel of the Appraisal
Institute. He was the newsletter editor in 2003, Secretary-Treasurer
in 2004, and Vice President and the chapter's Region
I representative for 2005. Together with Dr. Ko Wang,
professor of finance at California State University
at Fullerton, Dr. Van Steenkiste has written computer
programs for sequential pure-pairing analysis of real
estate sales comparables and discounted cash flow
analysis for use in appraisals.

Associates are all associate members of the Appraisal
Institute and have completed courses and seminar work
with the Institute. They include:
Howard A. Angell
has been an associate with Landmark Realty Analysts
since the company was established and has extensive
experience with appraisal of all types of commercial
properties. Mr. Angell has experience and specialized
knowledge with several type of special-purpose properties,
including congregate-care, nursing and convalescent
facilities, senior-citizen housing at all levels, and
hotels.
Thomas F. Perez
has been an appraiser for more than 15 years and an
associate with Landmark Realty Analysts since 1996.
Mr. Perez has specialized experience with taxation and
assessment issues and extensive knowledge of residential
subdivision development, analysis and valuation. He
is well versed in highest and best use analysis and
valuation of vacant commercial land.
Cecil M. (Trey) Teller
has education and experience in accounting, finance
and business management which he applies in the valuation
of going-concern properties such as hotels and other
special-purpose properties, He also has experience with
valuation of industrial properties and office buildings.
He has been an associate of Landmark Realty Analysts
for six years and is pursuing an MAI designation with
the Appraisal Institute. He is a California State Certified
General Real Estate Appraiser.
Kelly
J. Underwood has a Bachelor's Degree in
finance and worked with product development, management
and marketing with Intel Corporation before becoming
an associate with Landmark Realty Analysts in 2001.
Mr. Underwood has a family background in real estate
development and does valuations of vacant land, hotels,
retail properties and industrial buildings. He is pursuing
an MAI designation with the Appraisal Institute and
is a California State Certified General Real Estate
Appraiser.
Charles D. (Chuck) Messimer
is a California State Licensed General Real Estate Appraiser
Trainee and has been with Landmark Realty Analysts since
2003. He is taking additional course work to obtain
his Certified General Real Estate Appraiser license,
and in the interim, works under the direct supervision
of Richard Van Steenkiste. He has experience with appraisal
of hotels and motels, retail buildings, residential
condos and vacant land in the Monterey Bay area and
in the Central Valley.
